About
My name is Ashkan Banan. I am a Ph.D. student at Tarbiat Modares University (TMU). I graduated with a master’s degree in Fisheries from TMU in February 2010. In the M.S. program I worked on "Effects of Rearing Tank Color and Colored Light on Growth Indices and some Physiological Parameters of Juvenile Beluga, Huso huso". I earned my bachelor’s degree from Guilan University (2007). I was selected the superior B.S. freshman student by the Natural Resources faculty of Guilan University due to my high university entrance exam score. I initiated the practical period of fish farming in the earthen ponds of the faculty program. I worked on this for six months as a student project in collaboration with two of my classmates. When my lecturers saw my enthusiasm and perseverance in learning, they accepted me as a co-worker in two researches. The first one was "Comparison between Microsurgery and Traditional Egg Removal from Starry Sturgeon, Acipenser stellatus, Broodstocks" which was published in the Journal of the World Aquaculture Society and the second one was "Effects of Different Photoperiods on Growth, Stress and Haematological Parameters in Juvenile Great Sturgeon Huso huso" which was published in the Journal of Aquaculture Research. These experiences in the B.S. program led to my appointment in the M.S. program as one of the research advisers of Tarbiat Modares University. I served as counselor for the Marine Sciences faculty for about four months. Moreover, I have participated in several national scientific conferences and have presented my work there. I also presented two papers in regard to my M.S. work to the 6th International Symposium on Sturgeon (China, 2009).
